Easy + Last Minute New Year’s Eve Outfits to copy

Sudden plans for New Year’s Eve? Or maybe you just want to dress up no matter what you’re doing. If you have no idea what to wear but are going out, here are brilliant last minute outfits you can definitely copy, and end 2015 in style.

1. Little black dress + Bright cross-body bag

A classic little black dress (LBD) never goes out of style, and a bright bag adds colour and helps your phone remain hands-free while you’re out and about. Add flats if you’re dancing, or heels if you’re out for dinner. You can’t go wrong.

2. Leather + Lace

Play up the toughness of leather with dainty lace. A lace maxi dress & leather jacket make for a stunning day-to-night outfit for any occasion. Or try a pair of leather pants (trust me they’ll become a staple) and a lace top. Stunning in seconds.

3. Denim shorts + Black blazer + Sparkly earrings

Break out your cutoff shorts, and pair with a black tailored blazer for a look that will turn heads with little effort. Sparkly, eye-catching earrings make it just right for an evening out. And always add flats if showing some leg.

Alternatively, wear skinny jeans + heels if you don’t have shorts. A tailored blazer elevates everything.

4. Black cami + White skirt + Sandals

Monochrome is classic across seasons for a reason- it remains fresh and stylish no matter what the occasion. A black top (cami works well, but anything will do) and a striking white skirt / bottom of any type is the perfect contrast. Flat sandals add a relaxed vibe.

5. Tee + Miniskirt + Heels

The classic t-shirt or sweater, twisted into your miniskirt + heels – it can’t get easier than this.

6. Statement skirt + blouse + Strappy sandals

It’s not New Year’s if you can’t make a statement! Take that embellished skirt you’ve been saving for a special occasion, and pair with a silk blouse. Throw on a pair of strappy heels and celebrate.

7. Sparkly separates + simple pairs

Sequins don’t fall too far from the party tree. My favourite way to pair shimmering pieces is with chunky knits or just simple separates that really lets it sparkle. A knit top makes the cozy contrast which is very chic, while all black is just a fail-safe. Sequins, you have met your match.

8. Crop top + flared midi skirt

It isn’t really a party without a crop top involved is it? Play off the proportions with a flared midi skirt. Ladylike + modern, done easy.

5 Fresh Colour Combinations to try

As far as India is concerned, it’s always festive season– there is no dearth of celebrations through the year. But come December, and Chennai breaks into Margazhi. Concerts galore, and canteens overflowing with filter coffee and sweets. It’s my favourite time of the year.

The deal with Indian festivities is that there’s a lot of colour. And it can be daunting to figure out new combinations. Sometimes, colour choices end up being regular, nothing new. Which is why this post is going to focus on five fresh colour combinations that work beyond festivals, inspired by real outfits. So scroll on!

1. Violet + Orange + Mustard

Trust Sonam Kapoor to wear vibrant and unexpected colour combinations. I would not have believed in this mix of colours, but it works. Violet and orange, with a dash of mustard make for a unique outfit, that is memorable and festive.

2. Nude pink + Burgundy + Brown

Colours like burgundy and brown are considered “vampy” but when worn with a nude shade, become quite wearable. The rose gold & mirror embellishments add a glamourous, grown-up touch to the outfit. If you’re looking to go for a mature look, I highly recommend this. Deeper lips and brown-toned makeup complete the look.

3. Light blue + Mint + Baby Pink

Pastel shades play off each other beautifully. Light blue and mint always work well, while the dash of baby pink breaks the monotony.
Pearl-embellished accessories and a fresh, highlighted face make the entire ensemble easy on the eyes.

4. Green + Purple + Gold

Green, purple, and gold are a match made in heaven. Just like the violet + orange combination above, this is unconventional, yet 100% chic and would work for any occasion, even if the colours are combined in western wear. The geometric gold necklace & embellishments tie the entire outfit in together. I’m bookmarking this for future reference.

5. All cream everything | Nude + Beige + Ivory

It’s very uncommon to wear all of one colour/similar shades of the same colour when it comes to festivals, which makes this a combination to try. Complementary colours are a fail-safe, & whites are an elegant breath of fresh air. Pair with a braided up-do and simple accessories.

These sisters can do no wrong.

If you have a pair of sneakers with bright accents, don’t save them for the gym. Take them out with a pair of skinny jeans, and a bright sweater in the same colour as your sneakers. Layering over a long shirt is optional– you could do it, or just wear a slightly oversize plain top. Finish with a black schoolgirl satchel + reflective sunnies.
